Rebuilding of three gates and landscaping – Repair works of the arcs at the main entrance (YMCA square)
T.I.F. – HELEXPO S.A.

Rebuilding and renovation works were conducted at the conference buildings and gates of T.I.F. – HELEXPO S.A. because of the extended damages they suffered from the earthquake of 1978 in Thessaloniki. More particularly, the repair works included reconstruction of the three gates, landscaping of the surrounding areas with raft foundation, steel bearing structure and glazing elements lined with copper sheets in the perimeter. Various techniques were implemented for the repair and earthquake protection of the construction, including elaborate sandblasting of the gates’ arcs, restoration and reinforcement of the existing corroded steel and construction of concrete mantles.

Each building-gate has an autonomous air-conditioning system for heating and cooling and is equipped with all necessary electromechanical installations.

The project also included the construction of a fire station, the construction of a pavilion and public office for the Greek Police and other works inside and outside the Exhibition and Congress Centre.
