Renovation of four-storey building at Egnatia str., planning and construction of commercial shopping center

The project concerned the renovation of an existing building, with the refurbishment of its facade and the addition of two floors. The building houses department stores and offices of the owner company. A new central staircase, a set of twin glazed lifts and a roof garden have been constructed. The functional and formal organization and the treatment of the facade, aimed to preserve the important morphological characteristics as well as to enhance the symmetry and escalation of the structural elements of the building.

The renovation of the building included all the necessary demolition, reinforcement and rebuilding works. The bearing structure was armored with reinforced concrete with metal mantles in columns and beams, extensive application of shotcrete in all the existing construction and special reinforcement of the building’s foundations.
